With only THREE WEEKS left until baby is here, I thought I’d do a FAQ post about this pregnancy to share some details and some pregnancy tips to any other mommas-to-be out there!
THIS IS MY SECOND PREGNANCY
I had my first, Zakiyah, in 2012. She was unplanned, and surprise surprise, so was this one! I always knew I wanted to be a mom, and didn’t really care when it happened, so Zac and I never “tried” to have kids, just a few lapses in birth control did it for us, and I feel so fortunate. Some women have to jump through hurdles to get pregnant and sometimes stay pregnant, so I thank God that I never had any complications or hardships when it came to getting pregnant.
I AM HAVING A SCHEDULED C-SECTION
When I had Zakiyah, I was induced at 39 weeks because she was so big for my body type! And I definitely do not have child bearing hips, so I knew labor would be a challenge. After being in labor for over 12 hours with Zakiyah and not dilating all the way, she decided to make a u turn and become breach and facing outwards. It was super painful and so my doctors decided an emergency c-section would be best.
After that, I always knew any other baby would have to be a c-section baby and honestly, it doesn’t bother me. I’m the type that likes having everything planned out to the T, so knowing exactly what date AND time baby is going to be here is a huge relief.
I’m scheduled for December 11 at 8AM and cannot wait! A little nervous, because I know how a c-section works now and it’s a little scary, but also relieved because I know it will be over fast. Some days, I feel like he’s going to burst out at any moment, so he may come before my scheduled date, if not, December 11 it is!
I HAVEN’T HAD ANY MAJOR COMPLICATIONS
Just the usual: tiredness, moodiness, the ability to eat like a bear going into hibernation…. The only difference I have noticed between this pregnancy and my first are the pains! With Zakiyah, I worked at a restaurant my whole pregnancy and was really active all the time. I was also 19 years old. With this pregnancy, I’m very fortunate to not have to have a job and be a stay at home mom, but I’m definitely not as active as I was when I was 19 and I’m feelin’ the pain! I’m also 25 now, so maybe age has something to do with it too. Some days, I can barely get out of bed my back and hips hurt so bad. So if I had one piece of advice for anyone currently pregnant or trying to get pregnant, it’s to STAY ACTIVE!!!
That’s all I can think of for now (preggo brain stumps me up sometimes!) I’m planning a baby gear post sharing my favorites and what I’ve purchased and also putting finishing touches on his nursery so I can share that as well! Keep checking back for those posts and let me know what else you all would like to see.
