Good Morning!! And by that I really mean it’s a good morning! Unlike yesterday’s morning shit show. Literally. Let’s just say I don’t handle stressful situations well like running late, or losing a dog. Yes, losing a dog.
We are dog sitting right now and yesterday I let him out one more time before I left and go figure, he ran away!! Picture me screaming his name for 30 minutes stressing out about Zakiyah being late for school. SO he stayed outside…for four hours until I got back
THEN while dropping Zakiyah off at school she had a total melt down out of no where and didn’t want me to leave. This is the same kid that I have to remind to give me hugs and kisses before going into the classroom!
Anyways, it doesn’t sound like much, but really, I DO NOT do stress of any kind. With all that said, in addition to sharing this look (wrinkly look btw), I thought I would share 3 ways I de-stress so I don’t end up flipping the fuck out.
CLEAN! Seriously, cleaning is the most therapeutic activity for me. Ha, I called it an activity. That should speak for itself. But really, having an immaculate, clutter free space just immediately soothes me. Of course I have to do this while Zakiyah is occupied or at school because she’ll come right behind me and make a mess again. Cleaning also gives me a chance to organize things or re-organize things if I don’t like they way they are. My favorite cleaner to use btw is Mrs. Meyers in the Lavender scent.
Watch a movie or TV show. This is a great way to just escape. Thinking about something else and getting into a story is really relaxing and takes your mind off what’s bothering you. Light up a candle too to really set the relaxing mood. Eucalyptus mint is my go-to candle scent! You can get them from Bath and Body Works, World Market, and even Burt’s Bees makes a good one! Whenever the movie is over, start fresh.
Get out of the house! Whether you go shopping, to the gym, for a walk, out to eat, just a change of environment and getting outside can make a huge difference! Sometimes just a little Vitamin D is all you need.
